My Favorite Things: March 2020

March Favorites.png

During this time of staying inside and self-quarantine/social distancing, I’ve been really surprised at how not-alone I’ve felt, and I think the biggest reason is the blessing of staying connecting with others online and seeing all of the encouragement, hope, help, and humor everyone is sharing all around the world.

I’ve enjoyed seeing what others are up to and what’s getting them through the day, so I thought I would share some things that I’ve been loving lately.  I’ve been encouraged by so many great Christian articles and messages, but I’ve also enjoyed a lot of the humor that’s been going around, so I tried to provide a variety of things here and trust there will be something to help you, either by comforting your heart or by making you smile.

Please be sure to leave a comment and share what you’ve been loving lately, or feel free to DM me on Instagram.  I’m so excited to stay connected with everyone during this time!

Disclaimer: I am not in any way affiliated with anyone or anything on this list. Just sharing a few of my favorite things!

Spiritual Encouragement:

How to Stay Calm in a Crisis - Tony Evans

Encouragement to the Church During Hardships - Francis Chan

Some Things Are Out of Our Control.  Here Are Four Things That Aren’t. - Great reminder from YouVersion about what we can control during this time.

COVID-19 and Our Opportunity - The best ways to help others during this time.

My Life is In Your Hands - I realize this song isn’t considered “cool” but the lyrics are perfect for the times, and I’ve had it on repeat lately.

And if you need a little more encouragement, I’ve got a few posts that may help:

How to Reframe Your Thoughts with Gratitude

Random and Fun:

How Each Enneagram Type Reacts to Quarantine - PUAHAHA.

Quarantine Cooking with Joanna Gaines - Love her.

Feeling Bored?  Make a List. - My list-loving heart was full reading this.

First Lines of Ten Classic Novels Re-written for Social Distancing - Pride and Prejudice:  “It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be hoarding toilet paper.” LOL.

What I’m Reading:

The True Vine - Andrew Murray I’ve been studying John 15 and have been looking for books on the topic of The Vine and the Branches (if you know of any, let me know!). This little gem has been full of insights and deepened my understanding of this passage beyond what I’d previously known. I’m already planning to re-read it as soon as I finish it!

The Release of the Spirit - Watchman Nee I devoured his book Sit, Walk, Stand and re-read it four times in a row to fully absorb everything from it, so I was eager to read another book by him. This one is just as deep and is really making me think about what it means to be broken in order for the Holy Spirit to be free to work in us and through us.

Fresh Power: What Happens When God Leads and You Follow - Jim Cymbala This is such a great read, and like his other books, Pastor Cymbala does a wonderful job at explaining Scripture and illustrating his points with stories from his personal walk as well as from people in his congregation.

French Women for All Seasons: A Year of Secrets, Recipes, and Pleasure - Mireille Guiliano I loved her first book, French Women Don’t Get Fat, so I was really excited to read this follow-up book with even more recipes, tips, and charming stories of growing up in the French countryside.

What I’m Watching:

Note: I don’t really that much TV, but when I do, I’m all about cooking competitions!

The Great Food Truck Race - If you’ve seen my Instagram stories, you know I’ve been watching this at night to unwind. It’s the perfect mixture of fun, food, and travel!

Spring Baking Championship - I am a horrible, horrible baker, so I live vicariously through these amazingly talented people.

Britain’s Best Home Cooks - If you liked “The Great British Baking Show”, you will enjoy this one. I adore Mary Berry and love the quiet, slower pace of this show. All the home cooks are so sweet to each other and form a little family away from family. Love it!

Nailed It! - Cannot. Wait. for season 4 to come out on April 1st!  This show makes me feel sooo much better about my (lack of) baking skills! Seriously, if you need a good laugh, go watch this show.
