My Favorite Things: April 2023

April Favorites

Every month I say, “The end of _______ really sneaked up on me - didn’t even see it coming!” And I say it every month because it’s always true! April was good but also challenging. (Maybe it was good because it was challenging? Not sure. Still processing.) Even with everything going on, I’m still working my way through my spring reading list and still loving it! I’m really happy with the books in my to-read pile these days.

How was April for you?

Here are a few things I’ve enjoyed or that have encouraged me this month…

Here’s a guide to hacking your Instagram for beauty and for Jesus.

How adorable is this duckling sleeping in a mug?!

It’s unloving to quickly restore fallen pastors. Amen!!!

Making me think: The SBC is afraid of platformed women. (The title sounds harsh, but this is a great read. Very thought-provoking.)

“Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him.” Thank you, Dr. Stanley. You will be missed.

I listened and re-listened to this sermon on unconditional surrender.

I absolutely loved this story about playing hooky and baking a cake. Sounds like something I would’ve done as a child ha!

Here are 19 simple ways to make time for quiet in your busy day. These past few years, I’ve noticed I’m more sensitive to sounds and noise and that I actually crave silence. Maybe this is why?

What recipes do you have memorized? This made me think about how many recipes I make each week without even thinking about it; things like mayonnaise, bread, biscuits, oat milk, hard-boiled eggs - I need to make my own list just for fun!

I haven’t finished read this article on TGC’s “mean-spirited” book review yet, but I want to go ahead and share it as it addresses an issue that really needs to be addressed.

On gracious uncertainty: “The spiritual life is the life of a child. We are not uncertain of God, just uncertain of what He is going to do next. If our certainty is only in our beliefs, we develop a sense of self-righteousness, become overly critical, and are limited by the view that our beliefs are complete and settled. But when we have the right relationship with God, life is full of spontaneous, joyful uncertainty and expectancy.”

Currently listening to:

Currently on my nightstand: Renovation of the Heart and A Long Obedience in the Same Direction.

Speaking of books, here’s my spring reading list. What’s on yours?

Disclaimer: I am not in any way affiliated with anyone or anything on this list.  Just sharing a few of my favorite things!
