There have been several times in my life when I’ve been called by God to say or do something that hasn’t made sense.
If you’ve experienced this, then you’ve probably been left with the same thoughts I had:
“Why in the world is God asking me to do this?”
“I can’t see any purpose behind this…”
“Why would God lead me here?”
“If God called me to this, why isn’t it working out?”
“Did I misunderstand Him?”
Have you ever just felt unfulfilled like you knew you God was calling you to do more but you did not know exactly what it was you were suppose to be doing? This was exactly how I felt! I was at a job I pretty much hated. He was compelling me to do more. I could feel it in my spirit. I thought I knew what I wanted to do with my life, but God had other plans for me.
As Christians, we are all called to glorify God and to honor Him with the way we live our lives and with the way we use the time He’s given us. However, within that primary calling we all have, we each also have secondary callings. These secondary callings can be situational, seasonal, or for a lifetime.
Calling is a purpose that God placed in your life in use of the gift and passion that He has placed in you from the very beginning. It is about using those gifts to share God's love and letting people know that they are not alone in their struggles. It's a beautiful marriage between using your passion towards the people that God is passionate about.
